1000W PSU short-list for Springs should be shortlisted around the job it must do. South African buyers should compare wattage, efficiency, protection, and connector support, warranty path, and upgrade room before treating any pick as best.
The best three 1000W PSUs available at Evetech for Springs buyers are the be quiet! Straight Power 11 1000W (R2,800, 80 Plus Platinum), Seasonic Focus GX-1000 (R3,000, 80 Plus Gold, 10yr warranty), and Corsair RM1000x (~R3,200, 80 Plus Gold, 10yr warranty). All are fully modular. The Seasonic Focus GX-1000 is the strongest value pick — single 12V rail at 83.3A handles RTX 4090 transient spikes cleanly. Delivery to Springs takes 1 to 2 business days from Evetech.
be quiet! Straight Power 11 1000W (~R2,800): 80 Plus Platinum (92% efficiency at 50% load), fully modular, 135mm semi-passive fan (silent under 20% load). Best noise performance in the price tier — ideal for open gaming setups in a quiet Springs bedroom. Seasonic Focus GX-1000 (~R3,000): 80 Plus Gold, single 12V rail, fully modular, 10-year warranty. The benchmark for reliability — Seasonic manufactures PSUs for multiple other brands. Suits any high-end build up to RTX 4090. Corsair RM1000x (~R3,200): 80 Plus Gold, 130mm fan, fully modular, 10-year warranty. The highest retail recognition in SA — most SA PC builders know the RM series. Consistently stocked at Evetech.
RTX 4090 builds peak at 700 to 750W under combined CPU and GPU load. RTX 4080 builds run around 600 to 650W. For anything lower — RTX 4070 or RX 7900 GRE builds — 750W or 850W PSUs are more efficient at partial loads. 1000W is overkill below RTX 4080 tier unless you run heavy overclocks or multiple M.2 drives.
Seasonic is considered the most reliable PSU manufacturer globally — they OEM for multiple other brands and the Focus GX series carries a 10-year warranty. The Corsair RM1000x (also built on a Seasonic platform) is equally reliable and arguably more widely recognised in SA gaming circles. Both are strongly recommended.
For 24/7 workstations or systems under heavy load for 8+ hours daily, Platinum's extra 2 to 3% efficiency (92% vs 90% at 50% load) reduces heat and saves a small amount on electricity over time. For typical Springs gaming setups running 4 to 6 hours daily, the price gap between Gold and Platinum may not justify the upfront cost difference.

a 1000W fully modular PSU, only connect the cables your build actually needs — leaving unused cables in the bag reduces cable clutter inside the case, improves airflow, and makes future component swaps easier. Don't attach all cables because they came in the box.
