An HDMI 2.1 cable is worthwhile in a lounge only when the television or display and the connected console, PC or player support a mode that needs its bandwidth. A newer cable cannot add 4K high refresh, HDR or variable refresh when either endpoint lacks the feature. Cable length and certification also matter.

Confirm every endpoint mode

Write down each device output, display input and the exact resolution plus refresh rate desired. Check the display manual to see which port supports that mode. Audio return features may depend on a particular HDMI input and compatible sound equipment. Avoid adding adaptors during diagnosis because they can introduce a separate bandwidth limit.

The Dell S2725QC 27-inch 4K USB-C monitor is factpack-verified at R6,128. The AOC U27G42 27-inch UHD monitor appears at R4,819. Verify HDMI input capabilities, supported refresh modes, audio path and included cables on current pages. The supplied factpacks verify no standalone HDMI cable SKU or price.

After connection, select the intended refresh and colour settings, then test a known source for flicker, blanking and audio stability. Buy a certified replacement when both endpoints support the target mode and the present cable cannot maintain it. If the lounge uses ordinary 4K playback at standard refresh, an existing suitable cable may already be entirely adequate.
