The ELECSTOR 18W Mini UPS costs a verified R536 for compatible low-voltage network equipment, but it serves a different purpose from a smart plug set. Smart plugs schedule or switch suitable appliances. They do not provide backup power, and they should never control equipment that creates a safety risk after unattended restart.

List each controlled appliance

Evetech factpacks contain no verified smart-plug SKU or price. Compare current models by South African plug format, voltage, current rating, certification, app permissions, local manual control and warranty. Check the appliance maker guidance before switching heaters, blankets, cooking devices, medical equipment or high-draw hardware. A timer does not make an unsafe load acceptable.

Use a strong unique account password and multi-factor authentication where the service supports it. Place smart plugs where furniture cannot crush them and where heat can escape. Avoid stacking adapters. A qualified electrician should inspect damaged outlets, loose connections or questionable wiring.

Keep bedroom routines understandable

Assign clear names such as bedside lamp or desk light, then create the few schedules the room needs. Test manual control when Wi-Fi or the cloud service is unavailable. Household members should know which outlet an automation can switch.

The ELECSTOR unit can keep a compatible router or optical-network device running after exact voltage, polarity, connector and load checks. It cannot power a gaming PC or unknown mains appliance. Keep automation and low-voltage backup as separate buying decisions.
