Choosing Your Handheld Gaming PC

Evetech's Windows handheld range is the practical Steam Deck substitute for SA buyers. The AMD Ryzen Z1 models at R12,000–R15,000 deliver 40–60 fps in esports titles and 30–45 fps in demanding AAA games at 720p. Upgrading to the Ryzen Z1 Extreme (R18,000–R22,000) adds roughly 35–40% more GPU performance, pushing 60+ fps in AAA titles at 800p with FSR 2 enabled. All units ship with Windows 11, a 7-inch 60–120 Hz display, and USB-C 65 W charging.

Inspecting on Arrival in Thokoza

Check the outer carton before signing — compress the corners gently to verify the foam insert is intact. Power on and check the display for dead pixels using a solid-colour test image; run both analogue sticks in full circles to check for drift; press every face button, bumper, and trigger firmly. Report any hardware fault to Evetech within 48 hours with photos and your order number to qualify for the fastest warranty resolution.

Setting Up and Playing

Charge fully before the first gaming session — most units take 90 minutes to 2 hours from flat at 65 W. Connect to your 5 GHz Wi-Fi network for the fastest Steam library downloads. On a 25 Mbps Openserve or Vumatel line, a 30 GB game downloads in roughly 2.5 hours. Set per-game TDP profiles: 15 W for AAA, 8 W for indie titles — this doubles battery life in lighter sessions without any visible quality difference.
