ROG Ally X Short-list For Soweto - What's In Stock Now needs a balanced South African view before choosing hardware. Check resolution, settings, cooling, power needs, platform fit, warranty support, and upgrade plans before deciding.
The ROG Ally X is currently stocked at Evetech at approximately R18,999 — it is the only Windows-based handheld gaming PC in the range. Soweto buyers can order online for next-day delivery, with most Soweto addresses falling within Evetech's standard courier zone. The Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU, 24 GB LPDDR5X RAM, and 1 TB NVMe SSD make this the top-performing handheld available locally, and there are no cheaper or basic variants — it's one SKU at one price.
The ROG Ally X packs an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU (8 cores, 16 threads) paired with RDNA 3 integrated graphics running at up to 17 W TGP. The 7-inch 1080p 120 Hz IPS display is bright at 500 nits — visible in most indoor environments including bright living rooms. The 80 Wh battery sustains about 2–3 hours of active gaming or 5–6 hours of productivity use, making it a practical all-day carry.
Evetech's Johannesburg warehouse services Soweto via standard courier, with next-business-day delivery for orders before 14:00. Stock availability is shown live on the product page. Given that the ROG Ally X has been available for over a year, supply is more reliable than it was at launch — you won't likely face a weeks-long wait.
If this is your primary gaming device, the 1 TB SSD handles about 15 installed titles comfortably. Add a USB-C hub for desk play (R450–R600) and a microSD card for extended storage (R250 for 256 GB). The device ships with a 65 W charger, which is adequate for normal use but not simultaneous heavy gaming and charging — a 100 W GaN charger (~R450) is recommended for intensive sessions.
The ROG Ally X case included in the box is functional but slim. Soweto buyers travelling to Wits, UJ, or other campuses benefit from a padded sleeve (~R200–R300) for daily bag carry. A compact Bluetooth controller dock isn't needed — the built-in controls are full-size and comfortable for extended sessions.
Check the live stock status on Evetech's product page — the Ally X has maintained consistent availability since mid-2024. Soweto delivery is next business day via courier when you order before 14:00 on weekdays.
Competitive titles like CS2, Valorant, and Fortnite hit 80–120 fps at 1080p medium settings. Open-world games like Cyberpunk 2077 run at 40–50 fps with FSR enabled, which is smooth enough for story play. The 120 Hz display makes high-fps competitive titles feel noticeably sharper.
Yes — Windows 11 runs normally, so Office, Chrome, and study tools work alongside games. The 24 GB RAM means you can keep browser tabs open without slowing the device. The compact size and included carry case make it practical for students commuting across Soweto or to campus.
microSD card at the same time as the ROG Ally X — Evetech often stocks Class A2 cards that offer fast enough random read speeds for gaming, unlike slower cards that cause loading hitches.
