A beginner drone is overkill for routine school IT administration. Network support, asset records and classroom devices stay on the ground. A drone only earns its place for approved aerial media, roof inspection or a school programme with trained supervision and a lawful operating plan.
Name the authorised flight task
The verified facts contain no drone model or price. Check South African flight rules, school policy, insurance, airspace and privacy before buying elsewhere or from future stock. A low-cost drone still needs batteries, safe charging, storage and repair support. Flying over learners, neighbours or roads creates risk that a beginner label does not remove.
For ordinary IT work, the ASUS ExpertBook P5405 costs R12,700 with 16GB memory and 512GB storage as a portable support-computer reference. The Hiksemi Pocket 1TB portable SSD costs R900 for approved backups and installation media. Encrypt any staff or learner data and keep recovery keys under school control.
If a roof or campus survey has value, hire a qualified operator and compare the result with buying equipment. Keep student participation under documented supervision. Purchase a drone only when the school approves a recurring programme and named staff can maintain flight logs, batteries and footage access during two normal school terms with staff and learners present.
