A fan controller has no fixed South African lifespan. Component quality, electrical load, case heat and dust exposure shape how long it works. A controller that runs within its rated current and stays cool can outlast one driving too many fans from a cramped header, regardless of the city or season.
Check the electrical path first
The verified facts contain no fan controller model, price or rated service life. Check current Evetech stock for the number of channels, current allowed per channel, SATA power input, PWM support and warranty. Add the current draw printed on each connected fan. Keep the total below the controller limit and follow the motherboard manual when a hub uses a fan header for its control signal.
Heat and dirt deserve attention. Mount the controller where cables cannot pull on its connectors and where hot GPU exhaust does not bathe the board. Clean intake filters before dust mats the fan blades. Inspect plugs for discolouration, loose pins or a burnt smell during routine maintenance.
Listen for speed hunting and check whether every fan responds to the selected curve. A stopped fan may have failed on its own, so test it on a known working header before blaming the controller. Replace the unit if a channel cuts out, a connector heats up or the board shows damage. Safe loading and periodic inspection give you a better service estimate than a climate label.
