A standing desk can be worthwhile for CAD work when it lets the user change posture without disrupting precise mouse, keyboard and drawing-device placement. Standing all day is not the goal. The desk must remain stable at working height and carry monitors, a computer and peripherals safely.

Measure both working positions

Set the seated keyboard height first, then estimate a standing height that keeps forearms comfortable and shoulders relaxed. Measure monitor arms, case location, cable reach and floor clearance. A deep CAD setup may need more surface area than a compact laptop desk.
