A 2.5GbE switch can serve a bedroom gaming setup, but it rarely improves online latency by itself. Its extra local-network speed matters when the PC, switch, cabling and another device such as a NAS all support the faster link. The supplied factpacks do not verify a suitable switch or price.
Find the actual network bottleneck
Connect the gaming PC directly to the router with known-good Ethernet and test download speed, latency and packet loss at several times. Compare that with Wi-Fi from the same desk. If the internet plan or router port is slower, replacing only the bedroom switch will not create a faster external connection.
Check the Ethernet controller on every device, router port speeds and cable category. A 2.5GbE link can help large local backups or game transfers from compatible storage. It does not make the GPU draw frames faster, and an unmanaged switch cannot repair poor router placement or a congested wireless backhaul.
Choose a current unit with documented port speeds, switching capacity, cooling, warranty and power requirements. Keep it ventilated and route cables away from chair wheels. Avoid buying unknown adapters merely to force matching labels. For a single gaming PC without fast local storage, a stable gigabit Ethernet run may already meet the need. Measure first, then add multi-gig equipment as one compatible path.
