Pick up an AG75 and the weight tells you something unusual is going on inside. At around one and a half kilograms, it is far heavier than a typical plastic keyboard. That mass comes from how it is built: a body cut from aluminium, a plate made of carbon fibre, and a stack of damping materials between them. Here is what that CNC aluminium keyboard construction actually consists of, layer by layer.
Quick Answer
Every AULA AG75 has an aluminium shell cut entirely by CNC machines, finished with 220-grit blasting and anodising, and a carbon fibre plate that carries its magnetic switches. Six dampening layers sit beneath the plate, and a switchable spring base sits under the whole assembly. The result weighs about 1532g without the cable and measures 319.8 x 143.8 x 42.1mm. Evetech's AG75 pricing spans R2,399 to R2,799 across its editions and colourways.
🏭 The case: machined, blasted, anodised
CNC machining
CNC stands for computer numerical control. Instead of injecting plastic into a mould, a computer-guided cutter carves the case from a block of aluminium. The benefit is precision and rigidity: walls come out with tight tolerances, and a solid metal shell does not flex when you lean on it. It also explains the weight.
220-grit sandblasting
After machining, the surface is blasted with fine abrasive media. The grit number describes the size of that media; 220 is fine, so the result is an even, matte texture rather than a rough one. It hides tool marks and gives the metal a uniform, soft-touch look.
Anodising
Anodising is an electrochemical treatment that thickens aluminium's natural oxide layer and lets it take colour. It is why the AG75 can come in Shadow Grey, Armor Silver or Battle Shine Orange, and the treated surface resists everyday wear better than bare metal.
🧩 The plate and what lies under it
Between the switches and the circuit board sits the plate, which locates each switch and takes the force of your keystrokes. On the AG75 it is carbon fibre, a stiff composite that is also light for its strength. Plate material influences how firmly the keys bottom out and how the board sounds, although the damping and case matter just as much, as we will see.
AULA lists six dampening layers. Among them are a Poron pad directly under the switches, a layer of PE foam, a PET sheet and a PO foam base, and AULA notes further layers besides. Each one soaks up a slice of the vibration and echo that a hollow metal case would otherwise amplify.
🪨 The base, the weight and the details
Below everything is a spring-loaded shock-absorbing structure that you can switch on or off. Engaged, it softens how the board meets the desk; disengaged, the heavy case sits firmer. It works outside the internal layers, so it adds to them rather than replacing them.
At about 1532g, the AG75 does not slide around, even under aggressive play. Ball catches let the shell part by hand and the magnetic switches pull out without solder, so this construction is meant to be opened and kept rather than sealed shut. Lighting comes from twin-star RGB with 170 LEDs, facing both north and south.
The AG75 Pro and AG75 Ultra share this build. You will find them in Evetech's gaming keyboards category, carrying a 2 Years Local Warranty. To see what else buyers are choosing, look through the keyboard best sellers. The Evetech product pages show pricing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does CNC machining matter?
A machined aluminium case is precise and rigid, so it does not flex or creak the way a thin plastic shell can.
What does 220-grit sandblasting do?
It blasts the surface with fine media for an even, matte finish that hides machining marks.
What is the carbon fibre plate for?
It holds the switches firmly and shapes the bottom-out feel and sound, working together with the damping and case.
What sits between the plate and the case floor?
Six damping layers. AULA names Poron under the switches, a PET sheet, and PE and PO foams, with more besides.
What is the switchable base?
A spring shock-absorbing structure under the board that you can turn on for a softer feel or off for a firmer one.
Does the weight keep it in place?
Yes. At roughly 1.5kg without the cable, it stays put on the desk.
