The ROG Ally X is a single premium SKU — AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme, 24 GB LPDDR5, 1 TB SSD, 80 Wh battery — priced at approximately R15,000–R18,000 at Evetech. There is no cheaper ROG Ally X variant. Gugulethu buyers in Cape Town (Western Cape) can access the standard ROG Ally at R10,000–R12,000 as the affordable alternative. Cape Town courier delivery takes 2–3 business days.
ROG Ally X runs AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme (RDNA 3 iGPU, 12 compute units), 24 GB LPDDR5 RAM, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 7-inch 1080p 120 Hz touchscreen, USB4 port, and an 80 Wh battery. At 720p FSR Quality mode, the Z1 Extreme delivers 60–90 fps in esports titles and 40–60 fps in AAA titles (Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, Forza Horizon 5). Battery runtime is 2–4 hours depending on TDP — at 15 W, closer to 3–4 hours.
The standard ROG Ally (Ryzen Z1 non-Extreme) sits at R10,000–R12,000 at Evetech. It features 16 GB LPDDR5, 512 GB SSD, and a lower-spec RDNA 3 iGPU. At 720p FSR, performance is 30–50 fps in most AAA games. Battery life is approximately 1.5–2.5 hours. This is the practical option for Gugulethu buyers who want ROG Ally gaming without the Ally X price tag.
