Arrival checklist — switch type and key testing

On delivery day, run through these checks:

• Switch type — confirm Cherry MX Red (smooth), Brown (bump), or Blue (click) matches your order
• Key registration — plug in via USB and press every key in Notepad or a key-test tool
• Stabiliser keys — press Space, Enter, Backspace at both ends; slight rattle is expected, metallic screech or dead actuation is not
• Backlighting — confirm RGB zones activate on first boot if the board has RGB
• Cable — flex the cable near both connectors; crackling audio (on keyboards with audio passthrough) or intermittent connection during flex indicates cable damage

FAQ

What Pargo collection points are available for keyboard delivery in Mitchells Plain?

Pargo has multiple points in Mitchells Plain at Shoprite and participating retail stores. When ordering on Evetech, select Pargo delivery and the checkout will list available points by proximity to your address. Collection is by SMS code verification during store trading hours.

What ZAR price should I pay for a reliable mechanical keyboard delivered to Mitchells Plain?

For a Cherry MX Red TKL board, expect ~R1,600–R2,000 at Evetech. Full-size Cherry MX boards sit at ~R1,800–R2,500. Entry boards with Outemu or Kailh switches start at ~R700–R900. For a keyboard that lasts 5+ years with daily gaming and typing, the R1,600–R2,000 Cherry MX tier is the most cost-effective long-term option.

What should I do if the keyboard stabilisers make a loud metallic noise after delivery to Mitchells Plain?

A slight rattle on Space or Enter is within tolerance on most keyboards under R2,500. A metallic ping (like a spring noise) at the edge of the spacebar indicates poorly lubed or incorrectly seated stabiliser wires — this is a manufacturing issue. Photograph or record it and contact Evetech support within 24–48 hours. Keep original packaging for a potential swap.
