A photo-editing PC can be worthwhile for 4K gaming when its graphics card, processor, power supply and cooling meet the game target. Photo performance does not guarantee smooth play at native 4K. The display, frame-rate expectation and game settings must be tested separately.

Define both workloads

Import a representative RAW set, build previews and export a batch. Then run the intended games at native resolution and realistic quality settings. Record graphics memory, system memory, frame-time consistency and temperatures. Upscaling can improve gaming performance, but it changes the comparison and should be documented.

Choose graphics with a complete build

The MSI RTX 5060 Ventus is verified at R5,950, while the ASUS RX 7600 is verified at R4,650. Both are individual graphics cards for compatible towers, not proof of complete 4K gaming performance. Check independent game results, application support, case clearance and PSU requirements before selecting one.

The Dell S2725QC 27-inch 4K USB-C monitor is verified at R6,128 as a high-resolution photo-display comparison. Confirm colour performance, refresh rate and desktop video output. A colour-focused 4K monitor may not provide the high refresh sought for competitive games.

Keep separate display profiles for editing and play. Preserve original photos, catalogues and save files before driver changes. Choose one dual-purpose tower only when both measured workflows pass with usable headroom.
