Focusing on value, he filtered his search to find high-performance projectors under R14,000, which provided the perfect sweet spot of price and features. He eventually settled on a popular Full HD Viewsonic projector, a brand well-regarded for its fantastic colour accuracy and brightness right out of the box.
Implementation
The setup was surprisingly straightforward and took less than 30 minutes:
- Positioning: Jaco placed the projector on a high bookshelf at the back of his lounge, pointed towards a large, plain wall painted a neutral light grey.
- Connection: He connected his DStv decoder and media box using a standard HDMI cable.
- Alignment: Using the built-in digital keystone correction and zoom, he squared up the image perfectly to create a massive 100-inch picture.
Pro Tweak Jaco Used
Instead of using the default "Bright" mode, Jaco switched the projector to its "Cinema" setting. He then slightly tweaked the contrast and colour saturation. This five-minute adjustment made the image look richer and more natural for movies.
