What was not shown matters as much. No exact chip model, memory, storage, screen size or price was published, and Gigazine noted the project is still at an early stage. Treat the Qwen Book as a working concept with real hardware around it, not a finished spec sheet.
A chatbot answers a question. An agent is given a goal and performs the steps. Alibaba's own demo made the difference clear: a voice instruction to change a presentation led the Qwen Book to fetch the file from cloud storage, find the right slides and apply the edits, then wait for the user to approve them.
Alibaba describes its approach as "OS as Harness", meaning the operating system wraps the models, the apps and the cloud services into one controlled environment. That control is the point. An agent that can touch your files and accounts needs clear limits on what it may change without asking, and the approval step in the demo is the part to watch when independent reviews arrive.
